Melbourne

I was in Melbourne between 6 and 8 Nov 2013 for the Australian Breast Cancer Conference, along with my students Chao and Atefeh. This was my second visit to Melbourne. As the first visit, I liked Melbourne for its mixed touches of historic and modern buildings and streets, colours and fashion, trams, crowd and the alleys filled with cafes.

We had only an afternoon in hand for seeing around Melbourne, and on Atefeh's insistence we went to see the Brighton beach. I like Melbourne for its relatively closer beaches compared to in Brisbane (the closest being the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast beaches), but we have the charming Brisbane river which is far more magestic and beautiful than the Yarra river in Melbourne.

The conference went excellent with several interesting talks and posters. It was also a great way to meet and know co-researchers in Australia, get a clinician-and-biologist's perspective to breast cancer research especially for a computational person like me.
